I Called Myself

I called myself a writer today

And the veil began to fall

I called myself a writer today

And heeded Spirit’s call.

I called myself an artist today

And the paintbrush took my hand

I called myself an artist today

And painted with colors bold and grande.

I called myself a Mother today

And a heartbeat danced with mine

I called myself a Mother today

And love stood still in time.

I called myself a teacher today

And the student sat with me

I called myself a teacher today

And welcomed minds to wander free

I called myself a partner today

And my armor came undone

I called myself a partner today

And together became one.

I called myself a dreamer today

And flew through skies vast and dark

I called myself a dreamer today

And etched my name inside a star.
